From an evolutionary standpoint, do you think that race is relevant? This is in the context of sequencing the human genome and using race as a way to define diseases etc.

I see from the link that geneticists are in dispute over this. Since they have been studying the issue rather longer than I have, I'll tactfully, for once, avoid a direct comment.

Indirectly I'll say that with a dispute as loaded with unscientific concerns as this one, the positions of everyone needs to be thoroughly filtered for evidence of political correctness or racial elitism.

I would suggest you google on Pharmacogenetics. Ethnic populations have diverse genotypes which impact on their ability to cope with xenobiotic challenges. That's why as a white Celtic/Nordic person I may very well succumb to several diseases. Poor me....

But to compensate, you probably look pretty good on skis!
