High Food Prices Linked to Riots

Hi all,

No introductions allowed, eh?

Anyhow.

A team led by Marco Lagi at New England Complex Systems Institute have noted the correlation between a high food price index and global unrest.

I've written an article about it here.

Not that hungry people being angry is anything new ;)

Wow, nicely done.

I've noticed a lot of people banning together and putting together food banks in their communities. The first time I noticed this was 12 months ago. Since then, the poor, middle class, and upper middle class are using this faithfully. I came across an interesting article that isn't linked to food but, with rising costs' in just about everything, people are getting desperate. Power bills are so high to date, that even my power bill either borderlines my house payment or car payment. Here is the newsarticle.

Cost of livin' gets so high,

Rich and poor they start to cry:

Now the weak must get strong;

They say, "Oh, what a tribulation!"

Them belly full, but we hungry;

A hungry mob is a angry mob.

<snip>

A pot a-cook, but d' food* no 'nough.

A hungry man is a angry man;

This might interest you then. An article on how climate change is leading to civil unrest. Again, the bottom line is limited food resources.
