Position Overview:

 

 

 

Our client is seeking an experienced Cytogeneticist, who must be certified ( or board eligible) by the American Board of Medical Genetics. Reporting to the Director of Genetics, the candidate will work with a battery of assay techniques pertaining to cancer genetics. The candidate will work closely with other pertinent laboratories, such as molecular genetics, cytometry, and assay development.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

 

Doctorate in Human Genetics or related field.

 

 

 

Postdoctoral Cytogenetics Laboratory experience

 

 

MANDATORY: ABMG Certified in Clinical Cytogenetics.

 

 

 

Previous experience in a Diagnostic Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory.

 

 

 

Demonstrated experience in hematological and routine cytogenetics and molecular cytogenetics.

 

 

 

Day to Day Position Functions and Expectations:

 

 

 

Write, review and sign FISH and cytogenetic case reports and/or clinical trial studies. Assure completeness and correctness of all case reports.

 

 

 

Assist with, or independently develop, new technologies and methods for enhanced genetic testing.

 

 

 

Request additional information and/or additional tests to assure accuracy of patient results.

 

 

 

Contact clients with results as necessary. Explain results clearly and accurately. Conduct additional studies when appropriate.

 

 

 

Coordinates results with other concurrent studies.

 

 

 

Is familiar with all laboratory and company policies, and SOPs, and participates in proficiency tests and laboratory inspections.

 

 

 

Assist with continuing education of laboratory staff.

 

 

 

Prepare and submit data/reports for publication and/or presentations

 

 

 

Excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude are a MUST!
