Why can't I post on some topics?

I just joined and can post on some topics but not on others. What simple thing causes this?

Members can only post in Philosophy, Religion and Politics after having made 30 posts in other sections.

 

Ahhh...I wondered if it was something like that. Thanks Cap'n.

I too encountered the same problem. I emailed the administrator and got this following prompt answer.

 

"As per the Philosophy and Religion Rules linked to at the top of each page in the Philosophy section, members must have thirty posts before they are eligible to comment in those forums. It's an incentive to join for the science discussion, and a filter that lets us discover obvious troublemakers before they move into the controversial discussions."
