Introductory Astronomy

Featured Replies

I just started intoductory astronomy and I have difficulty understanding this problem. Any help would be appreciated

For a place at a latitude of 55 degrees, determine how high above the horizon the sun is at noon on

1) The Vernal Equinox

2) The summer solstice

3) Winter solstice

It helps to draw a 2-dimensional picture (from the side obviously). Or play with a 3D version, using a lamp, and something spherical with the equator and earth's axis painted on it, and at the right angles.
