how can you calculate dilution factors ?

Try plugging into the definition for it. It must be defined as something, after all.

The dilution factor is the final volume divided by the original volume. The diluent is the amount of solvent added.

 

Final Volume = Original Volume + Diluent.

 

So DF = 1 + D/O
