I've been studying about electron orbitals lately. I have just finished the section today, but I was wondering what do the electrons do when alloys react?

you need band theory for metallic bonding. many courses skip that.

 

How does that work then?

I can't really sum it up in a post. It's quite in depth and also i don't know it very well. try wikipedia.
