Octanitrocubane

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard anything about Octanitrocubane?

All I know about it is that It's one of the/the newest synthetic explosive, and is also the most powerful, yet it ranks among the most stable, you can hit it with a hammer and nothing happens.

The interest was first in Cubane, which is also quite stable, but the thought was that its chemical offspring (Octanitrocubane) would be stable to shock, as it is.

The carbon atoms naturally bond at 109 degrees, and they are sreched to 90 degrees, and many discreditors thought it would not be possible to make, as the bonding degrees would stretch it to breaking point, but the discreditors were wrong! :D

Anyone know how to manufacture it???

Lol, if you do, go get a job at a government building, as this is virtually impossible!
