King Tut DNA analysis: sickly, sickly person

Featured Replies

They analyzed the DNA of King Tutankhamun, along with several other mummies. Turns out his parents were brother and sister, he had several maralial infections, and he had a genetic bone disorder that would have forced him to walk with a cane. Inbred, sickly royals: 'twas ever thus.

We truely are living in a golden age. Up until the last 100 years or so, a really healthy person was rare and everyone struggled with some disease or other. Consider that an infection from a small scratch could, and often did, kill.

I believe the article also mentions that he was initially raised in the American southwest, and at some point his parents relocated to what is now Iraq.

It was really sad to read that article, and I feel bad for him because he was so young and going through that whole mess...I would love to have his mummy on display in my room, though :D
