Transfering emails

Featured Replies

So, my grandma had emails on webTV, transferred to a localnet address, and currently residing on an old linux computer, saved in an old version of ThunderBird. We no longer have those mail services, as they came with her internet connection and she has switched to verizon. Now, she uses yahoo and gmail for her email. She wants to get rid of the old computer, but she wants her old emails as well. Is there a way to rescue them?

i'm pretty sure thunderbird has an option to export the database and you can probably import them to googlemail.

OK, I will try that. The version of ThunderBird might be older than gmail, so if it doesn't work I'll try updating it. I hope it's nice and backwards compatible.

Thanks, I finally got the old clunker updated (which fixed the broken gnome), and then I copied it over with IMAP. Was actually quite easy once I knew what to do, thanks. It just took a long time to update.
