CO2 Cooling Vest

Featured Replies

I was wondering if it is possible to using CO2 gas in between two latex or plastic membranes to cool a human body? Is it possible? Or are there other refrigerant gases out there that could cool a body?

I was wondering cause I am going out to Arizona. It so hot out there and I was thinkin it would be so cool if I could invent a vest that doesnt have to be refrigerated that can be light and use the cooling properties of CO2. Is this possible?

How long can cool temperatures be sustained in trapped CO2 gas in hot temperatures?

What about CFC's and arent CFC's a hazardous to ozone?

Thanks for your help guys!

Well unless you have some sort of powered refrigeration it's going to be useless. I've heard of a refrigerated vests being developed by the US army, so it might be worth looking for on the net.

yeah, they are hazardous to the ozone; every molecule of Cl2 destroys 2 million O3 molecules.

the O3 reactions go like:

O3+radiation->O- + O2

O-+O2->O3

and that happens over and over. unfortunately, the Cl2 ruins this.

still, HFCs work just as well.
