I am doing an experiment to find the surface temp of filament bulb.

i wanted to know what the function of silicon greases on the surface of the bulb to measure the tempeature.

the points of contact between a spherical surface (your bulb) and a flat object (your sensor) will be minimum, the silicone grease will make a greater surface area over which your sensor and bulb can make a more intimate contact :)
