Question on Tropical Rainforest Tree Design

Can some one help me? I have to design a tropical rainforest tree, to the advantages of the conditions in the rainforest, should I add, dark green to my model, as this enables my tree to have alot more chlorophyll, giving it more chance to make nutrients and food? or is that completely muddled?

Remember, only the top of the tree gets any appreciable light. It's actually quite dark in the understory.
