SPSS/T-test Help

Featured Replies

Hi!

I have 2 independent groups that I already know the means for, and I know the sample variances are equal. Both means and the sample standard deviation are given in the problem.

Group 1: Mean=1000, based on average last year

Group 2: Mean=976.3, based on a random sample of 36 this year.

s=47.8

Question: Is this year's mean less than last year's?

I know how to do an independent samples t-test by hand, and interpret results. However, my instructor said to use SPSS whenever possible. Therefore, if the raw data isn't given, is it possible to use SPSS?

Thank you!!!!
