For my physics class, I have to do a project using the experimental design process, and so I'm testing whether or not Regular Tide, Tide with Bleach or Tide with Baking Soda will work better at removing tough stains from white clothing. My question for you is: What would you use if you were trying to remove a tough stain from a white shirt?

Didn't see the white shirt bit...I'd have voted for the bleach otherwise.

I haven't checked this out so I'd love it if you post the experiment results..

But instinctively, I'd go with the bleach, since it's a white shirt and bleach would.. well.. bleach any stain, even if not clean it.

some stains are not touched by bleaches (an oxidiser), so it would depend entirely on what the stain was before I made a choice.

I assume tide is some sort of detergent?

Tide is the detergent line by Proctor and Gamble. It's one of their "core" products.

If you have the time, it would be cool if you could test out different fabrics also.
