Birthday Gift, Robot?

Featured Replies

Hi, my b-day is coming up really soon and I really want a robotics kit!

Can someone please help me? I want one to learn robotics with.

These are my requirements:

1 - I want to be able to program the robot in C/C++.

2 - It should include all motors and sensors in the kit.

3 - Price should be relatively low.

Is there any kit like that I can buy?

Online somewhere?

Please help me out, thanks!!

Lego?

It uses NQC (Not Quite C) (http://bricxcc.sourceforge.net/nqc/) for programming... and Lego is pretty awesome for building things like robots. - and the price is in the range of toys :)

p.s. I've never used the programming-part myself, but I've heard good things about it.

p.s.p.s. They have an online shop, and even sell individual pieces/bricks/parts.

oh right! I never thought of that. Lego sounds good. But I want to do the programming part excessively. i'll probably search around more

you could always buy a simple USB breakout board that gives you full s/ware controlled I/O with several channels and some even come with Relay output directly.

the Robot side of things is entirely up you after that ;)
