crystalizing???????

Featured Replies

Hey, i have some strontium-sup and iodine-sup used for marine fish tanks.

would i be able to crystalize them and get strontium and iodine. thanx if i can, how do i do it?

thanx

no not really, you`de only get Strontium Something and something Iodide, like potassium or Sodium Iodide, or maybe Strontium nitrate. those can be crystalised however :)

This wouldn't happen because they are both elements, right? Or can elements crystallize as well?

They can but must pick up solvent molecules to crystalise.

Copper with sulphuric acid as the solvent.

oh yeah! It then makes copper suplhate, which then crystalizes!

the raw elements of strontium (a metal) has a crystaline structure, and pure Iodine at room temperature is also a crystal (a purple/black color).

but non of these for the fish tank would be in elemental form :)

yes you can crystallize them, follow the following step CAREFULLY...

1) disolve te cristal in water

2) heat the water to about 100 C, add more crystalls into the liquid.

3) wait for the water to cool down and leave a string of tread in the water, and wait for 3 days... there is your crystall

Zinc like most mtals does have a crystaline strucure also :)

Hyperdimension: indeed that is a good way of making some crystals :) but in the case of elemental Iodine and/or Strontium, it wouldn`t be appropriate.

yup! those ones are for normal crystal growing. You wouldn't be able to dissolve zinc in water :)

or at least not much! :)

Zinc Hydroxide isn`t very solluble at all!
