chemistry question #2

Featured Replies

In 1 atm of pure oxygen, the solubility of O2 in water is 1.38x10^-3 mol/L at 25 degrees celcius. The mole fraction of oxygen in air is .210. If the atmospheric pressure is 1 atm, what is the solubility of oxygen in air at 25 degrees celcius?

Could you explain the concept of "solubility in the gasphase"?

As far as I know all gases mix with each other in all compositions, and therefore nobody ever bothered to define a solubility in air. :D

But I guess you meant the solubility of oxygen in water?

I am not sure which method you use (there is more than 1), but I always like the linear ones (Raoult and/or Henry)... the magic word here is "linear". Hope that the hint is clear enough. :P

You mean solubilty IN WATER at such gas composition? Right?
