Hello, I have 3 ponds on my land so I have a lot of water to use. I want to make a workable h2o steam power generator. I have a 4,000 sf shop on my land where we make all kinds of stuff here. I would now like to make a SG with an out put to supply my shop and home. It will be fuel by oil, here is a clip that I been looking at..........please make it real, no jokes, I want to make it work. I having a hard time finding a generator....

erm... what can I say... LOL! I love it! :)

you will need some gearing though to up the RPMs to drive a genny, and that vid looked very Lossy in way of energy In to energy Out ratio, but! there`s no reason at all you can`t make this work!

My hat`s off to you Sir!

to make a steam generator:

1/Pressure Vessel(Boiler)

2/flame. make an oil burner that will heat the tank.

3/for the generator bit you will need a piston. preferably driving a reasonable sized flywheel. i'm sure it can't be that hard to find an alternator somewhere. just hook it up. and if you need 60Hz you'll need to make a govenor and gearing mechanism to keep the alternator at 3600RPM

you ought to look at marine engines for the powerhouse. you can get sizable steam engines built for decent revs, a couple of automotive alternators linked to a solar power inverter would allow you to hook back into the grid and make a bit of profit on the excess power (you'd also appreciate the power during down time).

as for generating steam, look at pre-volatilising kerosene stoves to get some inspiration for the burner. and research old locomotives for boiler types. (you'll want a superheater)
