Virtual Rape

I couldn't believe this story:

Belgian newspapers De Morgen and Het Laatste Nieuws reported Friday that “the Brussels public prosecutor has asked patrol detectives of the Federal Computer Crime Unit to go on Second Life” to investigate a “virtual rape” involving a Belgian user of Second Life

Could we really become so emeshed in virtual worlds that such severe criminal penalties would be imposed for obviously inappropriate online conduct?

If they find someone for this then they could demand a virtual trail in a virtual court followed by virtual imprisonment if found virtually guilty.

I wouldn't have thought Second Life was realistic enough though.

Be careful where you put your pixels.
