Theoretical question

Featured Replies

In a theoretical situation, do you believe that if Iraq or Afghanistan had had a million-man army and a nuclear program, that the US would have invaded?

Well, Iraq seemed to have an army. I also think the U.S. would have invaded Afghanistan regardless because the U.S. wasn't fighting the Afghan military, it was fighting the Taliban regime. I don't think you can really say the U.S. is fighting Afghanistan.

As for nuclear weapons, I don't think it would change anything. If Iraq or Afghanistan had threatened to fire nuclear weapons they would have been signing their own demise. I'm pretty sure the rest of the world wouldn't like that decision. And if they were indifferent, well then they're not better than those who claim the U.S. doesn't care about what happens in other parts of the world.
