I'd be interested to hear the experiences of anyone's whose been the benificiary of a public school biology class in the Southern United States. How was Evolution covered?

 

I go to a high school in East Tennesee, and here there's not so much hostility as indifference. People just don't want to broach the subject. I'd say about 60% of the students are Creationist, so teachers just prefer not to deal with it.

I would find it so frustrating to attend school in the South and not have the oppritunity to learn about particular areas of science. I guess one would just have to take the initiative to learn evolution on his or her own.

I understand that many people who do not believe in evolution due to religious beliefs, etc. But what's wrong with learning about a theory that has scientific merit?

 

It's like people calling for a ban on the broadcast of Xmas charols because they may mention Jesus, or some other religious belief that not all people think is right.
