Reaction between metal and acid

Featured Replies

During my homework I came across a question I am not sure how to answer:

In experiment 1 there is:

2cm strip of Magnesium

An Acid in a beaker

In Experiment 2 there is:

4cm strip of Magnesium

An acid with twice the concentration of the acid in experiment 1

The acid has the same volume

Now in these experiments would the Magnesium react faster in experiment 1 or 2. And Why?

Thanks in advance!

well, what does the rate of reaction depend upon? in this case there are two things.

which experiment will dissolve Mg faster? 1 or 2?

do you expect us to just tell you? thats not going to happen. you need to THINK.

what is it that could affect the reaction? there are two factors involved. a hint is that both get changed.
