Smolin book #1 physics bestseller in UK

I just looked at the UK amazon physics bestseller list and Smolin

"The Trouble with Physics...and What Comes Next"

was number one.

 

that is maybe not so surprising. It was the number one physics bestseller in the US for a couple of months or so in fall 2006 when it came out, and the UK edition just came out last month.

 

But here is something unexpected:

 

Smolin's book is currently the #23 UK amazon bestseller in ALL BOOKS.

It is currently topped by Harry Potter books and some dectective novels, obviously real tough competition for a physics book, but Smolin is nevertheless hanging in there at #23 place.

 

Get a look now, can't expect something like this to last!

It did last, amazingly enough. I just checked and TWP is #25 seller in all books at UK amazon .

 

They also have sold out and don't have the book in stock. filling the order takes 1-2 weeks.

 

And of course it is still #1 physics bestseller.

(the runner-up in physics is only #459 storewide, so Smolin has no competition on the physics list at the moment)

 

This could be a UK blockbuster, which probably means there will be a German translation and maybe a French translation---to cover the European market.

This is the third day TWP is number 1 on the physics list.

 

Amazon is sold out and estimates "1 - 3 weeks" to fill orders for the book.

 

Their not having it in stock may be hurting sales. One might be tempted to look around and see if it is available in a local bookstore or if some other online vendor has it in stock.

 

But as of the moment it is still #39 in all books UK amazon sells.

 

that is pretty impressive. In the US I never saw TWP salesrank go below 190 even when it was #1 on the physics list week after week.

 

to place in the top 100 in the "all books" category you have to compete with a lot of frivolous fluff----murder, romance, diet, selfhelp, Harry Potter, recipes, humor, celebrities...
