Gay-Lussac

Featured Replies

In chemistry I recently did a lab showing how temperature relates to the pressure of a gas. We used what I believe was called a Gay-Lussac device. It was placed in water which was heated and then the pressure of the gas inside the device was measured. We estimated absolute zero with the data we got and our estimate was -276. My question is if the gas temperature inside the device wasn't the same as the water temperature how would this affect the measure of absolute value and if the sphere in which the gas was contained expanded how would this affect the estimate of absolute zero. Hopefully I explained that well enough.......I really appreciate your replies.
