Question?

Featured Replies

Google came up blank.

How long would it take to starve to death?

How long would it tkae to dehydrate to death?

Bizarre I know but it is a question that has come up through work and I cannot find an answer.

Thanks

Laura

Depends on your fat stores and how well hydrated you are (as well as how dry and hot the outside environment is). If it's dry, you'll lose more water via respiration, and if it's hot, more via perspiration. If you're fat, you can survive longer than someone who's thin.

"3.05010: How long does it take to starve to death?

The length of time it takes for someone to starve to death varies from person to person. It depends on their body composition, weight, heart condition, etc. It can take anywhere from several days to several weeks."

Both questions, as the two earlier postings say, are enormously variable in possible answers.

Generally though, without caloric input, death will come in about 25 to 60 days. Without water or similar fluidic input, death will take 2 to 5 days.
