A defination of foam?

Featured Replies

We had an experiment about enzym activity and hydrogenperoxid fission to H2O + O2. When we're adding the enzym, we should obersevate and make a note of the foams height. In a question related to this experiment, we're asked "What is the foam made of?"

It isn't a hard qeustion, but when I was thinking of it, I can't define what foam is.

I'm asking now: what is the defination of foam?

Foam I believe is by definition simply a solid or a liquid that has a lot of gas pockets in it :)

I believe that pretty much covers it...

A gel is a solid with a lot of gas in it. A foam is a liquid with a lot of gas in it.

Oh yes aerogells... sorry... got confused because the stuff they use to fill walls is called foam but that means technically its not then? I should have thought aerogel not packing foam :)

Thanks for the correction jdurg :)
