How are lysosomes activated to perform their function in the cell?

I just wanna know how the suicide bags of the cell are activated to destroy other organeelles by enzyme secretion.

Asking all the Biochemistry majors here..help:-)

Same as always' date=' they don't have neurons to receive signals from the brain so it must be via chemical messages from either the host cell or other cells :)

all I know is that proteins can be transported into the lysosome by vesicles which fuse with the lysosome. I'm not sure that enzymes are released from them to destory other organelles.

are you asking about apoptosis (sceduled cell-suicide) or phagocytosis (cell-eating, where partacles are injested into cells, resulting in vesicles containing foodstuff, which lysosomes fuse with to dijest)?
