hey

im doing my german coursework on Einstein. I was wondering if anyone could help me.

i need a very very simple way of explaining the theory of relativity for me. i need to translate it into german and it needs to be understandable for non scientists. It would be great if it lent towards how its useful today.

Any ideas???

Einstein has two theories of relativity, a General Theory and a Special Theory. Put simply:

The General Theory of Relativity explains how gravity works.

The Special Theory of Relativity describes what happens when things move at very quick speeds. It says the speed of light is always the same and physics applies everywhere and to all inertial (ie. not accelerating) observers. Special Relativity gives us the famous [math]E = m c^2 [/math] equation.

I don't really know what level you want the answers, I'd consider the above quite simple, but you could anyone between a 12 year old school student to someone at college/university.

Anyway, nice topic for a coursework.
