Why are each of the following used as a reactant when testing for manganses in steel?

1) ammonium peroxydisulfate

2) Potassium periodate

3) Phosphoric acid

4) Nitric acid

5) Sodium bisulfite

I am still looking through my notes and my chemistry book but struggling in the class
