Can methane particles be isolated and specifically identified in a lung cytology sample?  If not through conventional microscope use, can mass spectrometry be used or some other technology?

When you say "lung cytology" are you referring to bronchoscopy washings (from a patient) or samples taken from a cadaver (typically at autopsy)?

There are no methane "particles". It's a gas at ambient temperature.
