How to determine Density of Gel

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know of any cheap and easy method of determining the density of gel (like the amount of gel formed from a solution)? Don't tell me by looking pls.Maybe some kind of colour coding methods?

Frey:-p

Do an experiment to find its mass, then its volume. Density = mass/volume.

What about putting 1kg of the gel into water which is poured into a measuring cylinder, then the volume of the gel can be found out.

Does this work?

As long as you know the volume of water you started with, it should.
