find the velocity, then plug it into the average velocity formula to find final velocity, after this, just use the average acceleration formula

By average acceleration, you would mean FINAL VELOCITY - INITIAL VELOCITY over TIME. But the problem is you don't know the final velocity, initial velocity is zero. It's better you use the kinematics equation:

 

d = vt + 1/2at^2

 

where d is displacement, v is inital velocity = 0, t is time, and a is constant acceleration.
