Reverse Homologous Recombination possible for cloning?

Featured Replies

I have a question, the process of Homologous Recombination creates a unique genetic individual from 2 parents from their sperm and egg. Would it be possible to take an animals DNA, and by comparing it with its mothers and fathers reverse engineer the DNA that formed its DNA? In other words reproduce the genetics of the haploid sperm and egg cell that went on to create the diploid animal? Has this been done, or are the tools available to do so? Would algorithms be able to be produced that could do this? Thank you for any relevant research on this, I'm doing advance genetics next year with a focus in animal cloning.
