hey,

Examine the truth of the statement: "the moon moves in a near circular orbit around earth. Because the arth is so much more massive, its own motion is not appreciably affected by the mons prescence."

i am reeaallllly stuck on this and am really lost on what exactly i have to do

can anyone please help me out please!!!!!

what level of science is this, does it require some sort of proof? or is it just a yes no answer

What exactly is the question again?

Examine the truth? Put aside the fact that it's a slightly elliptical orbit, yes you can say that the moon orbits around the Earth in circular orbits. Precisely stated, the Earth and moon revolve around the earth-moon barycenter. This center point is like the center of mass of the earth-moon system. Because the Earth is massive compared to the moon, this barycenter is within the Earth's radius, so it will seem like the moon is the only one doing the orbiting.
