Finding a Suitable Catalyst for an MFC

   I'm currently building a microbial fuel cell as a biosensor ( more bacteria = more current) experiment. 

I'm using algae as the substrate, but I can't seem to find a suitable biocatalyst at biosafety level 1. It would be useful if I could get some advice ASAP. Thanks!
