Use Schiffs Reagent To Detect Aldehydes or Formalin In Milk

Featured Replies

Hello guys i am having a problem regarding schiffs reagent.....as we know schiffs reagent is used to test for aldehydes or you can say formalin.
The Problem is that schifs reagent when acidified with Dilute HCL gives pink color with natural as well as formalin containing milk and also with the protein albumin...i want it to react with just formalin in the milk...please help me with this problem...Thanks
P.S: Schiffs reagent should not give colour in natural milk as it does not contain Aldehydes....moreover if there is some alternative reagent for the same detection you can tell me that also....
