What is a meromorphic function, and how does it tie into the concept of infinity?

It's a function in the complex plane that is holomorphic (analytic) except at singularities.

 

Ok, analytic functions. That was the entire first half of complex variables. Analytic functions.

 

As I recall, a function is analytic at a point, if it's differentiable there?

Yeah, a function is analytic in a regionl if it's complex differentiable at every point in that region.
