  1. It's Pharaoh, but what are you talking about? I didn't do anything, I was just talking about the video bud posted.
  2. YT probably has enough other salts and ions in his diet to balance what he isn't getting on water. Like, all you need to do is eat one chinese take out meal a week and you'll be able to drink all the distilled water you want
  3. OMG! That thing was ridiculous! It looked like some monster was going to crawl out of the powder. Why were those tentacle things formed?!
  4. oh great! Thanks for the info though.
  5. ^Apparently YT has been doing that and he's still alive!
  6. I found some chromium oxide powder in my basement... i think it is used by hardcore knife sharpeners. Would this make a good thermite? What is it's formula likely to be? Also, wouldn't getting pure chromium be pretty sweet?
  7. When you encounter a directory listing online, it is usually a big mistake on the server's part. Of course, many http file servers (especially ones associated with linux for some reason) will just point you to a listing, but that is special and they do it securely. So the short answer is no. Of course I have heard of leaching programs that will download the contents of a server for you.
  8. I get the first line, and from that I can only assume what the second should be. It is pretty neat though. edit: nevermind, I get the second line now, the x was throwing me off.
  9. How pure do you think bottled water is? I'm definately going to check out YT's source though too.
  10. "P.S. it probably won't be there until mid january" So you just told him to go somewhere that doesn't exist?
  11. Thank you jdurg! Is there a good site online that allows you to look up various values like these?
  12. I've seen movies of individual cells and such moving about with their little cilia or fimbria and such, and I've always wondered how they actually do it. Same with muscle cells. I mean, they are just some bags of protein with water inside! What actually causes those proteins to move? To me it's the same as supposing that the molecules in some chemistry experiment are going to start swimming around!
  13. Yeah, I was wondering about the math, but I think that is a chapter in my text book so I will look it up. We might even get to it this semester and then I will be ahead.
  14. Alright, thanks for the purchasing idea. If you know any other ways I can do it at home, please share. I don't have any real lab equipment like beakers or tubes or anything though.
  15. I need to purify some water, but I don't have one of those fancy moonshiner gadgets. I was wondering what you guys use to distill things. Would a clean cup-at-a-time coffee maker distill the water well, since it heats the water to steam which then condenses and drips through your coffee?
  16. Is there a way that you can tell how concentrated a solution must be for it to be saturated? For example, suppose I want to make a saturated NaCl solution in water. How do I know the maximum molarity possible and thus how much NaCl to use?
  17. Yeah, I guess some gasoline and a match would work just as well. Not as fun to watch though
  18. sounds like a good idea to me! Talk about a quick way to get rid of the ice.
  19. The fact that a layer of oxidised metal can protect the metal underneath from oxidation is the "blueing" and "browning" on guns, right?
  20. I definately got some on my hands trying to bust the thing open, but my skin is fine. Probably because I washed them well?
  21. ^His fireworks making supplies haven't come yet, so he'll have to buy fireworks to light on new years. I plan on finishing my electrolysis machine because my dad will be around for me to borrow his tools.
  22. The guy in fight club made his own soap too... and some other things Something you don't want the feds to know YT? Lol, jk. The powdery shit in batteries is manganese dioxide? Anything else? (google gives hits, but none of them give the specific composition of the electrolyte).
  23. Yeah I realize that a latex party balloon probably won't make a good holding vessel.
  24. The boiling point of Br is about 59*C, so how come it is normally seen as a gas? Shouldn't it be a liquid? I suppose it would be easy to liquify with some ice though.
