Not only do scram jets only produce thrust when they are moving very fast, they only produce thrust in the direction in which they are moving.
A falling scram jet can only work if it is pointing down. If it works it will go down faster, it won't go up.
This idea will never work.
So; wait one sec. The jet will fall.It will be loosing altitude very fast as it could be traveling down very fast. (Perhaps this is a falling orbital pod) The ramjet intake takes in air, compresses and injects fuel then the result gets piped to the down direction (aiming at the earth) the jet then begins to slow down and inevitably it will reach zero thrust ( when there is no speed to compress air in the intake thus the jet (and or pod) is slower then before.
I imagine it would be a burst system essentially, It thrust very fast and then kills itself out. As for the VTOL portion: The craft will not hover, it will be able to do vertical take off and landing however. What do you mean this idea will never work?

Is there a language problem? Hover means remain.....
Grr. Sorry but what other word could be used. Hover? or should I say it "will not move horizontal, it will only move vetically" does that make sense?
What do you think of this? Please don't mind my errors, I ask only for an opinion on the idea. What do you think?
So it will fly up and then drop, and then up again. And with the b platform, a sort of suspention could be added where as the up down movement of the scramjet occurs while its attached to the b platform (which could be anything, maybe a flying brick)

Do you know what a ramjet is, or are you just using a name for something that you heard?
A ramjet uses it's speed through the air to compress the air for ignition. A VTOL is hardly moving at all.
Sorry. The scramjet will not hover, instead it will attempt to remain in a fixed altitude. It will do that by going up and down, if you imagine some sort of fixed unmovable object from when it is at pos a. When it falls from pos a it is now away from the unmovable object. Take the unmovable object and see it as the hover height.

I love that it is up to us casual intelligent and economically average or below average people to spawn these ideas.

Screw reality, use a 3d physics engine (Or make one) and build it yourself. Hell, doing that if you are successful in a simulation, plan for one to be built. Good sir, you are the harbinger of your destiny. If you would like to see a Dyson sphere then think it to reality!

ramjet falls from a position, ramjet activates, ramjet returns to a position and then repeats.
or
what say the ramjet is pushed from b platform at a position, ramjet activates, ramjet is pushed back to a position / b platform.
The scramjet will not hover, instead it will attempt to remain in a fixed altitude. It will do that by going up and down, if you imagine some sort of fixed unmovable object from when it is at pos a. Superb VTOL scramjet/ramjet thingy, Offer your speculation?

Well fraking sht.
Sorry, then instead it is a booster. it can land vertically with scrams, but not lift off. It could work as a means to decelerate a space capsule. By the way. the engine is not pointed to the ground in the way the thrust pushes it towards the ground, its the opposite.
