      I think possibly economy of pathways. You can't have a separate bloodstream for each module into which is fed its individual hormone requirements. Same way that you cant have a separate data connection for each memory location.

      Right because economy is the primary objective, not assurance of survival by increasing the ability to specialize through compartmentalization of operation. >:|
