would making a solution of sodium nitrate and electrolyze with magnesium electrodes make magnesium nitrate?

thanks YT :]
what would be easier to make and plate with copper sulfate or copper chloride?
is there a way to get copper sulfate by electrolyzing sulfuric acid with copper electrodes WITHOUT plating the copper to the cathode? (or would just throwing copper into a sulfuric solution, and letting it dissolve, be faster?)
the reason CuO works better than Fe2O3 is because of the extra metal or extra oxygen?

hi, i have been keeping track of this thread and i have a few questions.
1. does CuO + H2SO4 = CuSO4 + H2O?
2. would replacing the copper with iron (rust) work?
3. Electrolysis of sulfuric acid with iron or copper electrodes produce the corresponding sulfates?

don't lithium batteries discharge relatively quickly also ?

if you use ammonia nitrate with sulphuric acid and heat it in a retort and condense it with out a vacuum will the nitric acid be contaminated with ammonia or something?

or you can get the stuff from Pottery Glase suppliers, Sr, Na and Ba are great color providers, use a neutral color base like Potassium as that`s easily overriden by the others
btw, I`m having a go at making my own gunpowder the OLD way!!!!
I have a a 45 gallon plastic drum, with about 30 kilo of ash (from burnt weeds) and about half a ton of well rotted horse manure for the Nitrate part, I`ll take some pics as I progress, and post them on my website as and when
{edit} I`m even using Rain water for the mix, but I need to know WHERE in the UK I can find or Extract Supher from, I`m NOT buying ANYTHING!
Ideas welcome
hey YT2095 did you ever get your sulphur? and if you have any pics they would be greatly appreciated.

would using electrolysis for making copper sulfate be worth the work?
i, personally ,think that putting copper oxide in sulfuric acid would be easier. any suggestions or remarks?
