  1. I am requesting your vote to make December 16, 1811 to be the starting point for the Anthropocene era [the new age of man] the proposed term for the current geological epoch, from the time of the industrilal revolution onward... The reasons being that a sungrazer comet, C/1811 F1, made a close pass in front of our planet in late November/early December causing extreme climate change, the mini ice age from 1811-1817, many earthquakes, eruptions, weather events, eventually causing the eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815 and "1816- the year without a summer". Temperatures have risen ever since this date... I invite you to go through all the details and to see the amount of evidence pointing to these scenarios. begin at- https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/science-history-impact-physics-climate-change-tony-hood?trk=pulse_spock-articles https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/moment-space-anthropocene-rock-tony-hood?trk=prof-post Please place your vote, start here- http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesconca/2014/08/16/the-anthropocene-part-1-tracking-human-induced-catastrophe-on-a-planetary-scale/ Tthere is a lot of information to go through. Hope this finds your interest...
  2. I'm sure you have seen the movie "Gasland"? http://www.gaslandthemovie.com/ Yea, That's "Fracked" up!
  3. Sure it does. Most already understand that burning so much fossil fuel will add way too much CO2 not to mention what this process "fracking" is doing to the environment. One study says 8 degrees by 2100: http://www.usatoday....e-rise/1694797/ Also a good place to start: http://www.350.org/ May want to get my point of view off this thread: http://www.thescienc...nd-nuclear.html
  4. Here is a couple for ya': http://alternativeen...estionID=001244 , http://www.sustainab...isplay/id/17018 , or you could just put "will renewable energy be able to replace fossil fuels" in a search engine and see what you come up with. Although I would think that 2090 is much too late and that we could do it in a few years if there was enough "concern"?
  5. Shouldn't there be plenty of studies? I may not be the expert for you on calculations, but my point is that: We have no choice. All the science is already in: We have peaked on oil supplies, we continue to destroy air and water quality, the human race is becoming too greedy for this planet. It is all a case of "resource mis-management". It is possible to run on hydro-electric alone. There is just no infrastructure and not enough concern or interest. Will it be true again- "necessity is the mother of invention". Do you want to wait until it all runs out?
  6. The fossil fuel industry has done an excellent job installing blinders on much of the general public. Tesla wanted electricity to be free, but Edison, Westinghouse, G.E., etc... all wanted to find a way to make money, and they did. It is not difficult for me to imagine everyone having their own personal energy. Every house and building covered in collector cells, several wind turbines, using hydro and geothermal more, but it is my belief that regeneration and kinetic energy sources will be another excellent alternative source. There is NO doubt that other sources MUST be used. Commercials brag about having one hundred years supply of natural gas, or "clean coal", or "safe and efficient nuclear power". That is ridiculous. What are they saying to their great grandkids? You deal with it? Oil, coal, and nuclear have done enough. It is time to open your eyes, realize- oil, coal, and nuclear WILL NOT be the choice for a decent future. My real point- Anthropogenic aquifer contamination should not even be a question, and even if they did find a way to safely extract, it would be selfish and ignorant to use up natural resources when alternatives are available. It should be set up and stored for a future when these sources might have to be used, ya' think?
  7. With new forms of alternative energy sources [regeneration, kinetic along with wind, solar, hydro, and geo-thermal] fracking is already obsolete. These people care very little for the environment and only care about profits! You may say that it can be done safely, but it is not. If you argue for drilling out any large amount from underneath your feet, then you do not understand "Earth Sciences"!
  8. Before and during the first of the New Madrid quakes of 1811-12 there were many reports of brilliant lights across the skies. Recently seismologists have attributed the lights to quartz crystals rubbing together, gas pockets exploding, ball lightening, and/or charged rock. All these are possibilities and probably did occur. The only problem with these theories, concerning the New Madrid quake on December 16, 1811, is that most all of the reports came from distances that were way too far to be naturally occurring earthquake lights and most state "meteoric" or "going across the skies". There were reports from the entire east coast, some as far as Savannah Georgia. Just before the first quake on December 16, 1811 at approx. 2:30 a.m. there were many reports of extreme brightness. A man in Louisville Kentucky said it was so bright he could see a needle on the floor. It is my belief that the earthquake that occurred in 1811 was the result of a meteor impact to Northeastern Marshall County, Mississippi. I have put much of my research on this site: http://koolkreations...kalopins-legacy ,"Kalopins Legacy","wix","documents and links","A Few Comments on 1811". Also "A Theory of Cometary Associations with Earthquakes". This is really just a starting point to what was a great cometary catastrophe. Find the truths behind the myths... Many times lights have been noticed before and during earthquakes. It may be that there are numerous explanations, some coincidence, some from the force of tectonic plates, but maybe, possibly an impact from a meteor? Let me know what you think about my research.
  9. This has been an ongoing investigation for several years: Recent findings suggest a meteor from a serial impact off the dust tail of Comet C/1811F1 was the initial mechanism to cause The New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811-1812. There is a central semi-circular depression in Northeastern Marshall County, Mississippi which every hill in the valley reverberates out from in a shockwave pattern. On the northwest face of this structure numerous unusual rocks were found with the appearance of melt rocks, fusion crust, vitrification, shatter cones, fallback breccia, shocked quartz, nanodiamonds, etc. All aspects of impactites. I have put some more information at this site: http://koolkreations.wix.com/kalopins-legacy ,"Kalopins Legacy","wix","documents and links","A Few Comments on 1811". I have been told, by just a few, that I have noticed an oxbow feature from an ancient river meander and that the rocks are just common concretions exhumed from a failed rift. Althhough the feature is concave and round, not oxbow or "U" shaped and there is no way any sedimentary process could have created these rocks. I am still in the process of finding professional verification. If you may be able to help it will be greatly appreciated. I guess what I really want to know is: Does my research deserve merit? Are the rocks cometary impactites? And, [most importantly] Do you see the shockwve pattern that I am describing on satellite view?
