  1. a few thought: - A written record is needed otherwise you could just be fooling youself. (this was also said earlier) - When I thought about the relation between a computer and a brain I thought maybe a way to know if you are in a dream is to overload the 'image processor'. The 3Dworld that you are in isn't really there it is more or less recreated so changing view fast will most likly wake you up. The problem is you have to realize that you are sleeping before you will try it. but if effective then I can prove that I'm not asleep now. -about predicting: if you predict something then it's likely that you didn't predict it based on that event but that you received info from a other source that caused the event in the first place. - About the twin towers: if you record everyday what people had nightmares of then you will probably always have a group of people that dreamed about a twin tower attack. If it really happens then those people will think they predicted it.
  2. I just want to add that how it taste isn't the main reason for the fridge but to prevent that bacteria getting a chance. You can actually die from a bacteria. It almost killled a family here, after investigation they pointed to the macaroni that was stored at way to high temps in the fridge. They were several day's in intensive care I'm not sure but I think that the youngest one eventualy died the rest survived. It was a rare bacteria they said but you can't choose the bateria in your fridge.
  3. Nicely 'MacGyvert' But I can just turn it up a bit higher.
  4. Argon is a very bad example. It is almost an opposite. (check elektronegativity)
  5. So if I understand your test right, you will generate for example yellow (with red and green) sent that yellow light through a prisma and look which colour(s) you will see after the prisma? - only yellow - red and green - red, green and yellow. RGB and wavelength on this site: http://www.physics.sfasu.edu/astro/color/spectra.html
  6. Thanks for the info. I read that the correct fridge temp should be about 3 or 4°C. I already turned it lower. 5 below 8 above still a bit too high. Maybe the modern fridges have a more equal temp ?If they don't then I find that very strange knowing that 3°C or 4°C is the correct temp to store food. (7°C is the absolute max temp) Basiscally your fridge has the right temps (always below 7) and mine hasn't Maybe I shoud take a patent on a fridge ventilator with warning light/sound if the fridges temp isn't below 6°C
  7. The electrons inside the metal are flying around big time (more than usual) due to the large forces on it. But if you can make sure that the electrons can't arc by keeping a large distance between the metal and any of the 6sides of the microwave you are fine. I would still advice never to use metal though.A microwave is made to heat water not to induces current in a spoon. (only if you know what you are doing you can do it, otherwise never) Edit: This is something for your lightning thread if the metal that you put in your MW has sharp edges then it will have a much bigger chance that it will arc.
  8. No, not yet. You must be patient. Do you know how long it took before we believed that the earth wasn't flat ?
  9. Accidently !!?!! LOL Maybe there was a reason after all why you weren't allowed to put metal in a microwave
  10. You are surprised that they play with your mouse? It is a cat!! that is what they do Anyway I just wanted to thank blike for putting that ugly Squid a bit lower so I don't have to look at it when I watch the home page. (I'm sure it looks a lot better under water)
  11. I did measure the temp diff. in my fridge at the bottom and on the top. I got 11°C and 6°C. The problem I have is that I find that a big difference if you know that most things come with the text 'store at max 7°C' So my obvious question is why have fridges no build in ventilator. Only a small one so the temp is equal. The height diff. was about 60cm with still about 10cm room left above and below. Maybe it's a strange fridge, what are your fridge temps?
  12. I would believe you if you didn't wrote that in pink
  13. I also read about this experiment (a few years ago I think) but it was with chocolate sprinkles.
  14. Making a Nuke is not simple even if you have all equipment/materials. If it goes wrong you won't get a nuclear explosion. I'm much more afraid of a dirty bom. those aren't difficult to make, ones you have the needed materials.
  15. Hi, I told you not to click on it. Can anyone explain why we are all so curious about something when we are told not to do it? - Do we not trust anyone ? (If you would trust me not to click on it you wouldn't be reading this) - Women seem to be more curious than man, right? why? - Do we think there is something very interesting hidden there when you are forbidden. It is not logical for a lifeform that wants to survive to be attracted to danger. I thought about this when I saw the 'why do people take drugs' thread.
  16. It's still a long shot maybe this type of star isn't even the main factor to have life around it. What I mean is it is still based on a big guess. You can aswell start looking for systems with more than 2planets because you don't think it's possible with only 2. There are a lot of parameters involved and the trued is we don't know all of them and we just picked this one as important because that is one we can investigate. Like a man who lost it key's 5meters away from a light source but looks around the light source be cause he can see there. but to quote A. Einstein: "If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?"
  17. It's even not certain that there is no other life in 'our own' solar system. about intelligent live: You can even discuss if earth really qualifies for that. about finding sun-like stars: How do you even begin to prove that such a sun is needed, for all we know we could be in the minority about which kind of lifeform.
  18. with 'drug' do you mean drug or 'medicine' I always find it confusing that 'drug' has two meanings in english. in my language they are two separate words. about what you said: air is a must to survive, a drug isn't. That is a big difference. I can fly... this would explain much, but first give me your argument why I can't. (just kidding)
  19. I did some checking and it's not like I said earlier it's the same like sound the wavelength and speed will change and the frequency will stay constant. (no, they won't change both if medium changes) If you think about it it's logical: every puls that goes in the glass/water has to pass at the same rate otherwise it would mean that the glass/water/etc stores or create information. So the frequency doesn't change only wavelength and speed. about if colour is defined by frequency or wavelenth: So it's the frequency that defines the colour not the wavelength. It's a bit a pointless discusstion because we always see colour the same way THROUGH our eyes so if colour is defined by frequency or wavelenth no one cares because none can see colour inside an other medium, the medium is always our eyes. If we talk about a colour/wavelength of 600nm then we always talk about vacuum unless specified.
  20. not 100% sure but If a red beam travels through glass it speed will drop and its frequency but the wavelengthy/colour will stay constant About doppler effect the speed stays the same but the frequency changes and therefore also the colour/wavelength. EDIT: interresting Sound seems to be different (or that about light was wrong) If you breath helium then you get that very funny high voice effect The 'vocal chamber' to resonate stays the same size so the wavelength is also the same size but the speed of sound in helium is about 3 times faster so the frequency is also 3 times higher.
  21. your answer Sorry for doing that, use google
