  1. Hehe, It's not nice of me to tell something and then just say notting anymore but it's the first time I really said something about it. I ckecked it back and the first time I took some notes about the basic idea was in august of 1995. probably another 5 years a few to make it clear and a few more to do some impact testing. (preferable on my 35 birthday, 26Jan2008) Copyright isn't the main reason, I first need to know more about it's possible impact. It like making an antidote before releasing a poison. I'm sure some people can advance much faster with what I have so far but I prefer security over speed. I'm very secure about any notes about it. I try to keep most just in my head that's the safest place, but I do forget sometimes I shouldn't tease you but there is a SMALL chance that I can make a link between the origin of life and the conservation of energy law. (still missing a puzzle piece)

  3. I think that crying is basically a way to show to your environment that you can use help. (independant if you feel happy or sad or that someone is actualy able to help you) It's just a basic thing your brain isn't thinking will it really help it is just detecting that it need help and starts the tears. The needed help is about your basic survival level that your brain predicts. It most likely started for practical use only and developed a more psychological use. I have a much more mathematical explanation about 'feeling' but I will keep that for myself (for now, until finished)
  4. LOL, No I'm supposed to be able to solve things like that according to my degree but haven't done it in years so I actually enjoyed it. I 'love(d)' this kind of integral applications. I also liked the 'power' of differential equations a lot You can solve problems with that like: your beer is 25°C you put it in a fridge of 3°C and after 15min. it's 20°C how long do you have to wait until it is 10°C
  5. Solved it. Due to the fact that it is a sphere we can't just use the regular formula but we can use the regular formula on dx(along the loading axis) and then integrate it over the whole part. first the integration start and end: Start is 0 because we start in the middle of the sphere going to the side and then we just mutiply it by 2 because the parts are identical. (hence the 2 in the formula) The end point: r=30mm cut to 20 meaning 2/3 or cos(pi/2-end)=2/3 --> end = 0.7297rad (you can also go from -0.73 to 0.73 and forget about the 2) The bigger the surface the less it will change. So the denominator is: R.R.pi or better r.r.pi.cos^2(theta) because R=r.cos(theta) With R = radius of one slice. The numerator is how thick it is that is dx. (along the axis) Now dx in function of d(theta) dx = r.cos(theta). d(theta) put numerator and denominator together and you get: d(theta) / (r.pi.cos(theta)) Multiply with F/E and put the constants before the integral sign and it's done
  6. 'E' is given as a variable so material isn't needed. So the solution must be valid for all materials. (there is an assumtion that it is homogeneous)

  8. Oh yes, L'Hospital's Rule, this does ring a lot of bells (and trigger memories) Yes, what I said was useless, Sorry. This '( ln a - 1 ) / ( lna + 1 )' is what you got when you made the derivative to x of both? BTW any idea about the derivative of x^x ?

  10. You shouldn't know it but you should know that you can look that up. later at a job they wont tell you 'that is the modulus' but they will say 'it is made of that'.

  12. about your limit 'problem'. denominator and numerator are the same if x=a --> 1 therefore it's true for all values of a. (a=0 or infinite would be a special case though.) I must say my math is rusty so it's probably not completely correct because 0/0 isn't really equal to 1.

  14. what ?? I start with -1=-1 and end with 1=-1 without making any obvious mathematical error. BTW I know that 1=-1 is wrong but that's the point of the message. with numbers: 2.2=4 sqrt(-4).sqrt(-4)=4 sqrt(-4.-4)=4 sqrt(16)=4 The difference is that no one claims that sqrt(-4)=2 but they do claim sqrt(-1)=i.
  15. i^2=-1 not the same as i=sqrt(-1) There is a funny 'prove' about it that says that -1=1 i.i=-1 sqrt(-1).sqrt(-1)=-1 sqrt(-1.-1)=-1 sqrt(1)=-1 1=-1

  17. Just want to add that in electronics we use the letter 'j' to represent 'i'. This to avoid confusion with the symbol of current. An ideal capacitor and coil only have an imaginary value because the voltage is exactely 90° out of phase. Capacitor: Current 90° before voltage or -xj Coil: current 90° behind voltage or +xj The current of a resistor is in phase and therefore has no imaginary value, you can also say it has one but it is always zero like 0j. Yes, you can multiply/divide imaginary numbers with a calculator. (you have to convert to an other representation though, real & real -->real & angle, a little calculator programming helps a lot)

  22. About if he will be run over that depends on the fact if he is standing in the path of the car. (he could stand 5feet beside it) BTW even if he is on that path he could be standing behind a metal wall. (just teasing I know what you mean I see science as a big prediction machine and we are constantly working on it to make it work better.

  24. I think you go a bit too far if you say that 'All experiences are real' I would say all experiences are experiences notting more notting less. besides which kind of definition of 'real' do you have?
