    No, from ordinary social life point of view.   AND yes, there is difference from biology/physiology point of view.

    The difference is just too too too tiny, and not necessary to discuss in our daily life.

  2. I think as sci-fic, you can assume some fact and develop a story. Not necessary to follow everything of the sciences.... Like <Silent Sea>, the author assume there is a type of water can be expended like virus. Well, the fact is bull-Sxxt, but the story was funny.

    DNA - do you want to assume DNA has 3 chains, or with a new base. Just do it, as long as the story is nice then I buy it.
