  1. It is most definately a finite number. The number of decimal places required to accurately describe it is infinite. For a more accurate description. It cannot be expressed as a/b where a and b are integers.
  2. It annoys me that there exists a term imaginary number, all "purely imaginary" numbers should be called "simple complex" numbers.
  3. It makes logical sence to go into negative numbers. Before they were accepted as "numbers" the logic of being in dept of $5 still made sence, but to compare that $5 to another $5 that you made you need a way of differentiating the two. The way I see it negatives are just as invalid as positives, why if I have an apple do I say that I have +1 apple, it is just as valid to say that the rest of the world is -1 apple.
  4. Yes, I asked my teacher this once and she replied to -50. They should call it rounding away from zero.
  5. Hey guys, my first post here. I hope this turns out to be some descent forums. Does anybody know the name of the curve that is represented by: x + 1 y =... ------------ ...= y (x + 2)(x - 1) It creates a curve like this. Thanks alot!
