  1. Well, I didn't yet try to use an electromagnet with this ferrofluid. I have an idea about to dismount an speaker to bring closer the ferrofluid and to use a periodical acoustical signal, e.g. using Audacity.

     

    It is not possible to open the bottle for safety reasons. When I have a ferrofluid that I can measure I will try to measure its conductivity. I mean to buy only the ferrofluid, not the complete kit that I have with magnets and bottle with ferrofluid and the other transparent liquid.

     

    I'll save you the trouble. It's not conductive. While the principle material is a form of iron-oxide, they are nano particles that do not touch each other. The reason is they are encapsulated in surfactants that allow the iron to remain in suspension within the oil distillate that comprises most of the fluid.
