  1. The purpose of the project is to preserve my genetic material and not have to pay thousands of dollars over the years to a sperm bank.

I have all the necessary equipment, the LN2 and C2H6O2, the dewar, and access to as much liquid nitrogen as I would ever need.

  2. Hello forum.

I've recently decided to store my genetic material in case anything should happen to me, the problem is I do not have the money to store it in a sperm bank, but I have ready access to liquid nitrogen and can whip up ethyene glycol fairly easily as a cryoprotectant, The process itself is fairly straightforward and I'm confident that I can achieve effective results with a bit of trial and error.

My question is, when it comes to the dethawing process, I understand I need to wash out the cryoprotectant with a culture medium then separating the culture / glycol with a centrifuge. I'm not sure which culture medium would be the safest to work with and I am not sure whether a 4000-5000 RPM centrifuge would be effective or if I need something a bit more powerful in the 10000 RPM range.

This is a serious post. Liquid nitrogen is 50 cents / L and paying to store my sperm is in the thousands. It seems like the rational thing to do.
