  1. I'm afraid I don't understand everything.
  2. Q1. One of the important features of gamete formation is the generation of bio-diversity. What are the two processes that account for the genetic variation among gametes formed by meiosis (reduction division)? Draw diagrams to explain your answers. Q2. Describe the differences between cancer cells and normal cells. Am only able to find one difference so far- a cancer cell's rate of division is not controlled.
  3. I haven't been lurking for awhile.. but I'm back with a couple of questions. Q1: What is a "control" sample? Q2: Why is it important to have "controls" in your experiment? I do roughly know what a control sample is, but I need the proper definitions. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Saponin is a class of glycosides, found widely in plants, like soybeans, soapwort and aloe vera. They have detergent properties and form a lather when shaken with water. Their presence in plants is thought to act as a deterrent to herbivores- they are bitter-tasting and cause gastric irritation if ingested. They are also highly toxic to fish. If injected into the bloodstream they disrupt red cells, through their effects on cell membranes. I need to know what does it do to the cell membrane/cell wall, and it's effects on it. I've tried searching google and yahoo but nothing helpful came up. Has anyone done research on saponin, or can direct me to informative saponin websites?

  9. Hokey I'm kinda confused. It's 3% concentration of NaCl stock solution (I think). And why do I have to put in 66.6ml? Because it's 2% divided by 3%? So if I wanna find solve 0.85% it'll be 0.15% divided by 3%? Therefore I put in 5ml of my 3% solution into a 100ml flask, top the rest up to 100ml with water, pour 50ml into another 100ml flask, fill it up to 100ml and there's my 0.85%?

  11. I have 3% of NaCl stock solution. How do I make these concentrations with only 3% of NaCl? How much distilled water do I need to dilute before I can get these concentrations? -> 0.2% -> 0.4% -> 0.6% -> 0.85% -> 1% -> 2% -> 3%
